We’re skiing at last!
This past week has been an amazing, early season ski week. Carina, Robby and Charlotte have been nordic skiing at their favorite area just a stone’s throw from the office.
Caitlin, Sam, Lily and I have each swapped stories of skinning up Bolton or Mt. Mansfield over the weekend.
Early morning Bolton laps before work have a special place in all of our hearts!

Winter sports are core to Bivo, because, while we’re all cyclists, we’ve all been skiers for even longer. Carina and Robby raced nordic and alpine before starting Bivo, so creating a bottle that performed equally well for winter sports and summer adventures was essential.
1) The nozzle doesn’t freeze!! When optimizing the flow of water, we went for a nozzle that allows for a super open, straight path of water. Besides high flow, the other benefit is that the nozzle doesn’t freeze.
Even the non-insulated bottles do well in cold temps – think -4F for an hour-long Nordic ski with no freezing. But if you’re in the below 0F temps, might as well go for the insulated bottles and you won’t have a problem.
2) Insulation keeps water at a normal temperature. Water so cold that it makes your teeth ache is never fun, especially when you’re already outside and freezing yourself. A huge benefit of the insulated bottles is that water stays a normal temperature when out in the cold.
3) Warm liquids are a huge treat! While we don’t recommend hot liquids in Bivo bottles, a warm drink is the perfect way to round out a ski day or keep kids happy if they’re skiing with you. We recommend: warm mint tea or warm hot cocoa.
4) Bottles fit in a drink belt or skinning backpack. The tapered base that allows a Bivo to fit in a bottle cage means it’ll fit just as well in your go-to winter pack.
