Product Information

We recommend washing your Bivo bottle regularly to keep it looking and tasting great.

Before initial use, wash your bottle and bottle components with mild soap and warm water.

To clean, remove the nozzle* and straw**, and unscrew the lid. You can wash your Bivo bottle components by hand with warm water and a mild soap. The body of the bottle and the silicone components can be put in the dishwasher.

*To remove your nozzle, first pull the nozzle up into the open position. With the lid removed, look inside the lid and find one of the three nozzle tabs. Press one of these tabs and pull your nozzle out at a slight angle. If it is difficult, try gently rocking your nozzle back and forth until it comes out easily. Do not force the nozzle out as it could cause damage. A bit confused? That’s ok, here’s a video for you to watch to help out a little more! (video)

**To remove your straw, simply pull on it from the halfway point until it pops off the lid.

We designed the Bivo bottles to fit into most universal bike cages.

After much testing, we have seen that not all cages are created equal. And we have also found that cage fit is a WAAAAY more a personal preference than we could have ever imagined! It’s a constant debate in our office! But, don't worry...you can rest assured that your Bivo bottle will fit into most cages.

To help, we had our staff test various bike cages and select their favorites.

Bontrager side loading cage (Izzy's small frame favorite)

King Cage stainless (Izzy's favorite)

Arundel Bando (Robby's favorite)

Arundel Mandible (Carina's favorite)

King Cage titanium (Izzy's premium favorite)

After lots of testing and countless fruitful discussions we have determined it truly depends on the situation, the bike, and personal preference. Check out the blog for more details on why we like certain cages.

YES! Keeping the Bivo bottles easy to clean was a goal right from the beginning! After a series of focus groups, it was evident this is an important feature!

The body of the bottle is dishwasher safe, as are the silicone nozzle and straw. We do recommend mild soap as we have found that using strong detergents in the dishwasher can impart taste into the silicone lid components.

The lid can be placed in the top rack of the dishwasher, but we like washing them by hand.

That is a squeegee to clean the removable straw attached to the underside of the lid. Pull it through your straw and if you haven't cleaned your bottle after last week's ride, you might find some nasty stuff in there. Admittedly, we were skeptical of its capabilities in the beginning too. But it works shockingly well and is quite satisfying.

Bivo bottles are made from recyclable 304 stainless-steel. The lid is made from FDA-grade, BPA/BPS-free polypropylene (#5), and all components including the straw, nozzle, o-rings, and the tactile exterior coating are made from LFGB compliant food-grade silicone.

What’s so awesome about stainless? So many things, but clean taste and the fact that it is infinitely recyclable are on the top of our list!

The Bivo One, One Raw, Duo, and Duo Raw are built with a single-wallconstruction and are NOT insulated. We knew some of you would be skeptical of having heavier bottles, so we launched with the single wall version. Some benefits of the single wall construction are that they are smaller and lighter than their insulated sibling.

Want to keep your water cold? No problem! Our Bivo Trio and Trio Raw are built with a double-wall vacuum insulated construction and are designed to keep your beverages cold for 12+ hours of chill.

The Bivo One, One Raw, Duo, and Duo Raw are not intended for use with hot liquids. They are made with a single-wall construction and therefore are not insulated. This means that the bottle can become scalding hot to the touch if hot liquids are poured into the bottle.

The Bivo Trio and Raw are also not intended for use with hot liquids. The high flow rate design of this bottle allows generous amounts of liquid to be poured suddenly into the mouth. Hot, carbonated, and perishable liquids and other contents may build up pressure within the bottle and unexpectedly leak or spray out. Always open with caution.

While your Bivo nozzle will seal shut, it is not completely leak-proof. We do not recommend putting your bottle in a bag with items that are sensitive to liquid.

From time to time, rust can appear in bottles. Stainless steel is rust resistant but not completely rust-proof.  If you think you see rust in your bottle, it can be removed by using a mixture of baking soda and vinegar on the rust spot. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then scrub with a soft sponge or bottle brush. If you can't remove the rust, please reach out to our team at thirsty@drinkbivo.com and we can help!

The bottle body is made of 304 stainless steel and can be placed in most municipal recycling bins. The lid is made from a durable polypropylene (#5 plastic) and the components (nozzle, straw, o-ring) are made from silicone. These materials are not typically recycled by municipal recycling programs due to lack of economic viability. We first recommend reaching out to your local recycling community to determine if there is a potential recycling/downcycling stream for these materials. If that is unsuccessful, TerraCycle offers a mail-in Zero Waste program that can be utilized to downcycle the Bivo lid and components.

Please be sure to separate the components into their respective material types prior to disposal.

We designed the Bivo bottles to be modular and recyclable/downcyclable. We are working to find solutions to make recycling your Bivo bottle an easier process. Until then, please reach out at thirsty@drinkbivo.com if you have any recycling questions. We are more than happy to help!
