Welcome: Grape, Tomato, and Turquoise!

February 13th, 2025 | by Keaton Smith

The morning started off in the Bivo HQ parking lot, a pre-dawn glow barely visible behind the mountains.

Caitlin and I consolidated our gear and belongings into one car (my temporary loaner car from the dealership) and headed up to Bolton Valley to meet Lily.

All of us at Bivo just love Bolton. The resort is about 15 minutes away from our office and really has everything you’d need to be happy on skis. One of my favorite activities at Bolton is their ski race league that meets every Thursday. My friends and I have a team and Sam is a regular sub, shredding on his tele skis.

Today, though, we weren’t headed to the resort side. Our goal was to trek up on skis into the backcountry zone, sniffing out the best descent.

We brought along our three new Spring colors to document: Grape, Tomato, and Turquoise.

Honestly, the colors popped so well with the blanket of snow as a background. I kept pulling off the trail as we climbed, asking Caitlin and Lily to hide behind trees, toss the bottles to each other, and try to balance them on their heads–all as I snapped away behind the camera.

Once we got to the little cabin halfway up, it was time for a water (and coffee!) break. We couldn’t stop admiring the sun, its rays slowly creeping up across the mountain peaks.

From there on out, we enjoyed perfect conditions and ever-brightening skies. When we reached the car, we all shed a few tears as we realized our favorite coffee shop and bakery in town was closed today…but we made a big pot of coffee when we finally made it back to the office, ready for another day at Bivo HQ!

While it’s still snowy in Vermont and Spring temperatures feel years away, we know so many of you are enjoying warm days and can already practically taste the Spring pollen in the air.
